signs of spring
Yes, signs of spring and, with the melting snow, signs of littered debris. I covered about a mile and collected 3.42 pounds of trash in a state park. The red-winged black birds greeted me and passers-by thanked me. People were cycling and hiking on this unusually warm mid-February day. I even caught beautiful sounds of earthly critters.
I wanted to share this post to commemorate attention to a special day and to our senses. Take a moment to feel your breath, eyes open, ears open, heart open.
Today I was reminded that I am determined in my efforts to combat litter. But I am not determined to an end; I am determined regardless of outcome. In the words of Vaclav Havel:
“Hope is not a feeling of certainty that everything ends well. Hope is just a feeling that life and work have a meaning.”
Life might be meaningless, but I am certain life is full of meaning. I know I’m not solving the world’s litter problems, but today I felt connected to the critters and birds I heard. Today, maybe I impacted their world a little.
Thank you for reading and being a part of my journey.
