bluesky

… nothing but blue skies

I prefer the quieter life and social media feels littered with ads and noise. That’s why you won’t find me on X, Instagram, or Facebook.

However, we live in a timeline where digital connection matters. While my focus is local, global is beautiful. My hope is to nurture both. I recently discovered an alternative that might feel less messy and still foster connection.

Fans of obLITTERate can now find me on Bluesky, a social networking service, for alerts on written features here, at obLITTERate.com, as well as microblogs and smaller updates on Bluesky.

How’s it different? Let’s compare Bluesky vs. X on philosophies and features:

“X is the larger, louder, monetized incumbent. Bluesky is the smaller, calmer, open challenger where reach is earned rather than bought." (Source)

  • Audience: X is far larger (hundreds of millions of users); Bluesky is smaller but fast-growing (Source)

  • Algorithm: X uses centralized ranking it controls; Bluesky uses algorithmic choice, users pick and build their feeds

  • Monetization: X pays creators via ad-revenue sharing and Premium; Bluesky has no ads or creator funds (as of 2026)

  • Reach: Bluesky is more organic (no ads crowding the feed), but the total audience is smaller

  • Culture: X is virality; Bluesky is calmer, community-driven, and chronological by default

I hope to connect with you there!
