Yes, I did enjoy! There truly was more marvelous beauty than the attention I brought to the mistreatment of this remarkable plot of earth.
While hiking and obLITTERating, I was fortunate to meet other nature enthusiasts, Matthew and Josh, who were unhurriedly identifying various native tree species along the trail. Their enthusiasm and respect for the land was uplifting and inspiring. As I was leaving, they pointed out the rare yellowwood tree (Cladrastis kentuckea) that I had previously walked past with no awareness or knowledge. (I love learning and seeing with new eyes!) Although I didn’t take a picture of the tree, I did notice a tiny blossom of yellow jewelweed (impatiens pallida), minding her own business, and worthy of an unsolicited portrait (see above).
